Tomohide

Tomohide Isokawa (Antwerp (BE), 1987) ; (, )

When Tomohide came by following his girlfriend’s advice, our FRONTs project was barely emerging out of its cocoon, yet we sensed the kinship was pretty much instant.

Tomohide is a pattern maker at Dries Van Noten and a devoted father: he’s created his very own project called Only One Garment, about the pieces of clothing he crafts for his son to wear. He’s actually wearing his own hand-made vest that matches his boys' here.

The FRONT mod.Gargoyle that’s currently sitting on his nose is made by Mathias, of fully hand-reshaped and reassembled ‘spare’ parts including 1970’s acetate temples and a 1950’s antique celluloid demi-amber front, which gave its name to the collection. He caught a glimpse at the workshop, and as an artisan himself, Tomohide reciprocated the same kind of attention and excitement we have explaining the project and process, and we gotta to say it felt amazing. This was, we think, maybe the second FRONT being done… We’re extremely happy to see they are one someone as captivating as he is.
